Joining the ranks of Darren Cordova Y Calor was a dream come true for Espanola Valley native Russell Naranjo.  As a youngster, Naranjo began his love for percussion, jamming with his sister on practice pads and oatmeal cans in the living room.  It were these carefree times that inspired Naranjo to take up congas, timbales and overall latin percussion.  Then came the call from Darren Cordova asking Naranjo to jam with Calor.  Soon after, Cordova invited Naranjo to join the band, and the rest, as they say, is history.  Russell has been playing professionally for 5 years and joined Darren Cordova y Calor in 2009.  In his short time with the band Russell has become an integral part of the signature sound that makes up Darren Cordova Y Calor.
